Despite the positive feedback we’ve gotten from volunteers over the past few years, we’re currently putting the volunteer program on hold. Thanks for all the inquiries showing immense interest in helping out in the schools. Unfortunately our current staffing does not allow the time and resources required to manage an overseas volunteer program. We will resume the program when resources allow. Thanks again for all your support!

Our current focus is on helping Nurbuling school fund a qualified English teacher and improve their school facilities.

“A World Away” held on August 13, 2011 was made possible by many of you who came and supported the event! Together we’ve raised a net total of $2540.04 to kick start our next project in Nurbuling School. Our next goal is to support quality education in an English learning environment for these village children. Together with local support, we’ll fund an English teacher to teach at all grades in Nurbuling. We will keep close contact with the teacher to ensure that these children are making the most out of their educational experiences. More updates will be posted on our blog so stay tuned!

Here are some images taken by Lisa Whalen Photography who was so grateful to sponsor her time in photographing at the exhibit.

Our next fundraiser will be held at Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park on August 13, 2011.

This fundraiser will feature images and videos captured by two of our volunteers, Elley Ho and Scott Taylor who worked at 3 different village schools in Nepal last summer. They will be there to share stories about their experiences teaching/documenting lives of these children. Dessert and drinks are available for purchase at the event.

Elley, now a board member of NEIO, is excited to be working with many sponsors, including Sophie Lai of Simply Perfect Weddings & Events. Sophie has been of immense help in gathering resources and making this fundraiser happen. We’ve gathered more than 25 sponsors to sponsor a variety of attractive prizes that will be drawn throughout the day of the event. Ticket is $10 each and is available for purchase online now till the event date.

Here’s a paypal link for the ticket sale:

This is the BEST way to support our fundraiser if you’re unable to make it to the exhibit.
